Architects Draw Up Blueprints To Promote Green Building Practices

Posted on March 27th, 2010

There is a new wave of environmental concern and green building practices are now underway. Conserving our water and clean air are of primary concern. Architects are planning buildings that will save energy any way they can do it.

An environmentally friendly building will use natural resources as conservatively as possible. Keeping the water supply clean is equally important. You will save the environment and save money at the same time. The American Institute of Architects developed a set of rules called IGCC V. 1.0. These guidelines are available to the public. They promote the concept of sustainable building practices. These rules are suggested for the International community.

Natural building is a concept that tries to use local materials to build rather than trucking in new materials from far away. This conserves gas, reduces emissions from the trucks that would ship the materials. The cost and impact on the planet are greatly reduced.

The governor of California signed into law Executive Order S 20 4. This makes it a legal requirement to use energy saving building practices. The goal is to conserve energy and protect the environment by doing so. Site renewable energy uses solar energy to heat water. Solar panels on the roof of a home collect sunlight, which is then converted into power to heat the home and run the appliances. In warmer climates, solar panels can provide all necessary energy for the house.

Back in the 1970s there was an energy crisis. People drove less and bought smaller fuel efficient cars. Fossil fuel will not replenish within any reasonable length of time. Solar power, wind power and other renewable resources are all being developed.

Bamboo is a wonderful wood to use for building. It is now being used for floors and some furniture. Bamboo grows rapidly, maturing in about ten years. Our everyday conversations involve new terms such as active and passive solar power, rain gardens and green roofs. Building is aimed at saving energy.

Planning goes into the concept of an energy efficient home or building. The goal is to impact the environment as little as possible. Consider high efficiency windows and extra insulation to meet your goal. Keep in mind all feasible green building practices, Construction, Energy and Conservation. These implementations will protect the planet earth. They will also put extra cash in your own pocket.
