When such a large percentage of the population has a tattoo of some sort, finding your own way in the masses of tattoos will prove difficult, but inspiration is not far.

Some see this as less creative since you are influenced by the designs you see, but without doing so your mind is less open to ideas.

Drawings you create can also be used. Even if you have never been able to draw very well, you will be able to design something either through learning or using computer programs to assist you. Your own design will feel much more satisfying when you get the tattoo and show it to your friends and family as something you created. If it is a good design, you may even get it added to the sketch book of the artist.
If all else fails, find out what motivated you to get a tattoo in the first place. Perhaps you saw a tattoo on another person and thought it would be interesting to have the same design. A general interest category such as animals, astrology, or nature can also be picked to narrow down your search. As you continue remind yourself that your final decision will be something you will live with for a long time.
