Lockets have long been the perfect gift for holidays such as Valentine’s Day or even Christmas and birthdays. Lockets are great for sentimental gifts, since they often include a picture or other small objects to remember someone by. As such, they are commonly only given to those who have a close relationship with the giver.
There is no better way to show off how well endowed one is by obtaining jewelry. Lockets in particular have a lot to customize, since the locket will in itself be expensive, yet so will the chain be that it rests on. But this is becoming less common as trends tend to change, and the new “hip” way to wear lockets is now to simply shield the object or photograph with glass and to have it openly viewable to all. This is a more bold statement, however, and their are certainly many who aren’t open enough in their personality to allow for such a thing.
Average lockets of the past would only allow for one image to be displayed without having to cram multiple pictures in the same slot. But this is now becoming the outdated way to wear lockets, as newer revolving technologies allow for multiple pictures to be viewed without ruining pictures or using lockets the way they weren’t meant to be used. It isn’t uncommon to be able to store 5 or more photographs at once.
The shape of the locket in question means a lot to the benefactor of the gift. A heart, for instance, would suggest that the benefactor has a relationship with the giver. A circle would indicate a normal shape for lockets, and an oval is a more sophisticated type shape usually reserved for stylish designs. Of course there is not limit to the amounts of shapes that a locket can take in their many designs, and the lines can indeed be blurred for special instances.
Before making the purchase, buyers should keep in mind that a locket is a piece of jewelry. Just like every type of jewelry, different jewelers will have different prices and inventories than the next one. As a result, it is highly recommended that consumer shop around before arriving at an ultimate decision.
